Younes Conference Center - Kearney, NE
We are pleased to announce the 2016 Summit sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Education in partnership with the Latino American Commission. This year's Summit will be held on October 24, 2016, in Kearney, Nebraska at the Younes Conference Center. The 2016 Summit purpose is to provide information for students and staff on the importance of graduating and how to graduate career or college ready.
Nebraska has experienced a 100% increase in the number of English language learners (ELLs) since 2000. Of the more than 100 languages spoken by ELLs in the state, over 70% speak Spanish. As our state demographics change, our work is to assure equitable opportunities and hold high expectations for ALL children. We can do this work with all of us working together.
Those invited to participate are school staff and their students. We are encouraging youth attendance by providing informational sessions on opportunities for post-secondary experiences. This event is limited to the first 600 registrations.
Mark your calendar and look for registration to open in August 2016.
