Mark your calendars!

for the Seventh Annual Hispanic/Latino Education Summit!

Monday, September 20, 2010 - Embassy Suites - LaVista, NE

We are pleased to announce the 2010 Summit sponsored by the  Nebraska Department of Education in partnership with the Latino American Commission.  This year's Summit will be held on September 20, 2010 in Omaha, Nebraska at the Embassy Suites Conference Center, just off I-80 at exit 442. The 2010 Summit will provide participants with an increased cross cultural understanding and an  awareness of Latino student achievement successes, challenges, and resources to support their school success.

Nebraska has experienced a 171% increase in Hispanic/Latino students since 1991. Of the more than 43 languages spoken by English Language Learners, 80% speak Spanish.  As our state demographics change our work is to assure equitable opportunities and hold high expectations for ALL Children.  We can do this work with all of us working together.

Those invited to participate are school staff and their students, communities and families. We are encouraging youth attendance by providing informational sessions on opportunities for post-secondary experiences.
This website will provide more information as it becomes available. We hope you will view the website and consider attending.

This conference is free to attend, but registration is required!

Individuals not registered will not be able to attend.
