Deadline for Gallery of Stars submission: May 17, 2010
The Hispanic Latino Summit encourages teachers, students and communities to consider how quality education with an integration of culture can improve the achievement of the students we serve. With this idea in mind, we want to highlight the leadership efforts of Hispanic/Latino students, 9th grade or higher, in Nebraska. The leadership can be displayed in the classroom, the community, extracurricular activities, athletics, etc.
It is the responsibility of the nominating party to ensure that nomination packet includes the items listed below and meets guidelines:
1. Nomination information
o Student name
o High school or college student is attending
o A brief description of the student’s leadership and other pertinent information.
Please keep under 250 words.
2. Biography form
3. Digital photo
o Make sure the photo is not too dark
o Have a little distance and not too close up so there is room to crop
o Remember to SMILE
o Clothing must be appropriate for publication
o Photos sent via mail from professional photographers are hard to scan as they have a blurry finish. (There are copyright issues and the photographer has to be noted.)
4. Parent Release Form REQUIRED or Student Affirmation for students 19 years of age or older.
We hope to have a broad representation of Hispanic/Latino students from across Nebraska. Students that are nominated will be presented in a slide show played throughout the summit and a Gallery of Stars take-home booklet.
